Bonnie - Is there a way for Moodle to "drop the lowest grade" for a grading category before calculating a student's final grade?
ehepford@wesleyan.edu
47:11
Can you go over how to grade a forum?
karencollins
47:25
Hi, Bonnie—can you go over how to make an Assignment?
jschiff@wesleyan.edu
47:49
not sure where to find all of this that we are seeing
Olga Sendra Ferrer
47:52
In one of your slides you mentioned “read and annotate”, could you explain what it is and how it works?
Antonio González
47:58
I’d like to see how to use the scheduler.
Abderrahman Amir Aissa
48:02
Is there anyway to add an extra credit column to the grade book?
Patricia Rodriguez Mosquera
48:10
Hi Bonnie, i lost connection for a moment so i do not know if you answer this questions, but is it possible to record a lecture for students in moodle or only in zoom?
Camilla Zamboni
48:11
Hi Bonnie - thanks so much! I am wondering how to make foreign (accented, for example) letters to appear in forums or quizzes
jmorawski
48:33
Hi Bonnie, Please describe how the evaluation page sets/populations the particular assignments
Anna Shusterman
49:02
I have had students say they didn’t get notified of feedback even though I checked the box. Do you know if students mute notifications and thus prevent themselves from getting announcements, feedback, etc.? Should we have them adjust any settings on their end?
Anna Shusterman
54:04
Can you change default feedback to always select feedback files?
Claire Grace
56:13
Hi Bonnie-thanks! Very helpful. Am planning to offer weekly office hours via Moodle. But am concerned about scheduling individual meetings efficiently. Are there tools on Moodle for scheduling meetings? I’m seeing the “Scheduler” function in “add activity” but am not sure how this works.
jschiff@wesleyan.edu
58:04
Sorry, lost you in the beginning — how do we get to the main moodle window for a particular course to see all of this?
crasmussen@wesleyan.edu
58:18
If I have a course TA who will be grading homework, what is the appropriate role to give them in the Moodle course?
sharissekanet
59:17
Can you repeat what you said about grading workflow?
ibork
01:00:46
Yes, please show us how to change the language
Camilla Zamboni
01:01:15
Fantastic - you're a star, Bonnie. Will email you about accented letters and changing languages in Moodle later.
ibork
01:02:00
Could we go over the audio and video options in Moodle? And also how do I chat with my students synchronously?
ibork
01:05:36
Can I upload exams on Moodle and have students do the exam online and submit them in Moodle?
jschiff@wesleyan.edu
01:05:57
can we show powerpoint and record lecture over it and submit or upload?
Antonio González
01:10:24
Scheduling appointments?
Ruth I Johnson
01:11:10
Have a different topic Bonnie: if we post lecture videos … how can we double-check that (or when) students have watched the videos?
ibork
01:14:36
can I create student groups to work in a forum?
James Lipton
01:18:40
How do I create groups?
jschiff@wesleyan.edu
01:18:44
do all students have adobe suite?
Helen Treloar
01:19:48
you can see every partiicants activity - when they were online, how long etc by clicking on paticipants
rtdubar@wesleyan.edu
01:23:53
If we record our lectures in Zoom, can we get a link to then post it within Moodle for students to view? And if so, what is the most effective way for students to submit their questions about that lecture within Moodle? Perhaps an option that would allow other students to see questions from students as well as my responses to those questions? Would a "Forum" option work?
James Lipton
01:28:49
Besides recording a Zoom session (which is enormous in size) what tools do we have on MAC to make a short video?
wrayack@wesleyan.edu
01:30:28
Quicktime just for Mac?
Anna Shusterman
01:30:59
Is there a downside to just doing voiceover on .ppt and posting compressed file, for easy quick lecture?
jschiff@wesleyan.edu
01:32:11
confused about share recording; if I make recording in zoom or powerpoint, how to share with specific class group?
Ruth I Johnson
01:33:59
I agree with you Bonnie about the upload speed to Moodle being long if your movie is long. Especially from home!
Helen Treloar
01:34:59
is it faster to load ppt videos to google drive? then give link on moodle?
jschiff@wesleyan.edu
01:35:52
using moodle vs zoom vs group email —advantages and disadvantages
Anna Shusterman
01:37:16
Is there a fast way to put links on moodle?
Anna Shusterman
01:37:52
yes
Antonio González
01:37:53
yes
Claire Grace
01:39:34
Hi Bonnie—just checking that I didn’t miss lesson in “scheduling” on Moodle — had to take a call and turned off volume
Anna Shusterman
01:40:02
Hi Claire, you didn’t miss it yet.
Claire Grace
01:40:45
Thanks Anna!
Claire Grace
01:41:16
Cool. Where do we find the Scheduler?
jmorawski
01:44:24
You mentioned using Scheduler for advisees. How can advisees do that? Do we create a Moodle page for advisees?
James Lipton
01:44:51
How do I start file sharing?
Helen Treloar
01:44:53
scheduler is great for advising meetings for pre-reg
Claire Grace
01:45:44
Super helpful. Can you clarify what add slots means?
jschiff@wesleyan.edu
01:45:57
thanks so much Bonnie!
Antonio González
01:46:45
Would you recommend different “sandboxes” for different groups of advisees (majors, pre-major, etc.)?
Helen Treloar
01:46:53
do we need to update advising moodles as students are added/leave? just got a new batch of advisees
Anu
01:49:07
how to create groups
Anna Shusterman
01:49:42
(Reminder about perusall)
Antonio González
01:49:49
Yes! ¡Un millón de graciass!
jschiff@wesleyan.edu
01:53:37
just checked and noticed my image pps are 200+ mg — how can such a large file be uploaded onto moodle?
Anna Shusterman
02:01:52
To clarify, we upload the documents via perusall not via Moodle.
Antonio González
02:01:54
So this is all done WITHIN Perusals? That is: the texts that students annotate as a group are uploaded into Perusals?
jschiff@wesleyan.edu
02:02:43
perusal seems like a simpler interface than moodle — is this a better way to enter the system?
Anna Shusterman
02:03:22
What’s the best way to get students to see how Perusall works without feeling overwhelmed? Is there a tip sheet/hot sheet/overview?
Antonio González
02:03:22
This could be extremely useful for textual analysis in literature courses
Wendy Rayack
02:03:31
Bonnie, What is the extra value of using Perusall for someone already using Moodle frequently?
Antonio González
02:03:39
Fragments of texts (poems, plays, etc.)
Anna Shusterman
02:04:15
